Founded in 2009, GAGSCHOLA (Gebennensis Artium Gladiatorium Schola) is a Swiss association, based in Geneva. GAGSCHOLA is  involved in the research and development of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).

For at least fifteen years international communities have researched and exchanged their interpretations, findings, hypothesis, questionnings, etc.) around a growing corpus of identified source texts, so called "Fechtbücher". GAGSCHOLA is part of this movement.

Supported by active members (i.e. with academic and research functions) members are invited to a variety of activities and projects, like:
  • Actively participate in the development of protocols for experimental archeology
  • Collaborate on studies of source texts (transcriptions of works, translations)
  • Take part in research related to the practice of Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).
  • Consider methods of transmitting knowledge to practice securely Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).
  • Invest in the dynamics of knowledge sharing within the HEMAC community.
